What is a Peryton? A king of forest and air, they are a majestic creature of ancient folklore, fabled to be a winged stag. They are protectors of the old forest, and a formidable opponent to any who would offer harm to their domain.
Perhaps the most interesting, is that there are conflicting stories about the shadow that a Peryton casts. Some say they cast a human shadow. Some say they only cast their own shadow when they’ve avenged their forest territory against any who may trespass. Some say they cast no shadow at all.
Long considered the emblem of the magizoologist, Perytons are respected and revered as a rare creature of great magic.
